1st Clock – Clock, Calendar, Alarms
I can’t say I am much of a big fan of the default clock in Windows. That is why I am constantly on the lookout for applications that could replace the default Windows clock. One such application is the Green Parrots Software-developed 1Clock. This application is a good Windows click replacement that has a lot to offer.
After you download and install the application, it will replace the taskbar clock by default. In the taskbar, 1st Clock displays the time and date. Click 1st Clock in the taskbar and a calendar shows up. Click a date in that calendar and you will see a list of alarms and reminders.
If you don’t want 1st Clock to replace the taskbar clock, uncheck the “Replace taskbar clock”. Once you do so, 1st Clock appears on the desktop as a floating window that you can place anywhere you want. Click 1st Clock and a floating calendar window appears – which you can also move around as you want.
You can change the way 1st Clock from the Options menu. There you will find a few skins to choose from – my favorite is called “Default style with CPU/mem indicator”. It is my favorite because it shows CPU load and how much memory the computer uses (I also have two Yahoo! widgets on my desktop that do the same thing). If you select this skin and recheck the option to “Replace taskbar clock” will continue to display CPU and memory load even if it is in the taskbar.
Before you rush off to get 1st Clock, check out these technical details:
Download – the download weighs in at about 1.5MB, which means that the download will complete in very little time.
Installation – installing 1st Clock is a simple, straightforward process that goes along smoothly and rapidly. 1st Clock can be installed on any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. This includes XP, Vista and Windows 7 (32-bit as well as 64-bit editions of the operating system).
Limitations – 1st Clock is free to try. This means you can use it free of charge during a 30-day trial period only. Please note that the trial version comes with a few inconveniences: at startup it resets settings to their default values; does not have alarm defaults feature; displays nag screens.
1st Clock is a useful alternative to the Windows clock. It displays the time, the date, has a calendar, lets you set up alarms, and even show you how much CPU your using.
